Cloud backups are located on remote servers sited in secure datacenters that can be a matter of miles or a whole continent away from your business premises. With cloud backups, data is backed up over the Internet. The process runs automatically each day with just the changes from the following day needing to be backed up.
Advantages: With Cloud backups, there is no need to take the backup offsite each night, you do not need to change backup media each day and there is no upfront cost to buy the hardware and software needed to back up the server. Theoretically, there is no limit on data retention.
Disadvantages: Depending on the amount of data you wish to store and the type of internet connections Cloud backups can be expensive. It also takes a long time to upload or download larger files.
