Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is one of the main forms of cloud computing alongside Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). In common with all cloud computing services, IaaS provides computing resources in the form of hosted virtualised environments which can be accessed via the internet. The virtual environment is made up of a number of different resources which would collectively form the infrastructure environment. Resources for the virtualised environment can be pulled from a multitude of physical servers and network devices and made available to the user as a collective pool of resource from which they can build their required platforms. IaaS offers a cost effective and speedy option for organisations to deploy IT infrastructure without the associated complexities such as procurement, installation and maintenance.
