FTTC is the technology where fibre optic cables from the telephone exchange or distribution point are installed to the street cabinets which then connect to a standard phone line to provide broadband. The connection from the street cabinet to the client premises is copper cable.
Speed of FTTC connections depends on how far your premises are from the street cabinet and whether the cabinet has been upgraded to new, faster services. Maximum download speeds vary from 2Mbps to 76Mbps. Maximum upload speeds generally range up to 20Mbps
